True Frogs
"True Frogs" of the family Ranidae are the "typical" frogs -- long-legged, smooth-skinned, with webbed toes. Most (but not all) of the true frogs are highly aquatic, and can be found in and around permanent water sources such as bogs, ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers. Florida is home to 8 native species of true frogs, two of which are shown below.
