This course provides students with a broad introduction to the wildlife profession, wildlife as a natural resource and the principles of wildlife ecology, management and conservation. By the end of the course, students should gain an understanding of the history and evolution of the wildlife ecology and management profession; the people, agencies, and public policies that have and continue to impact the profession; the ethics and philosophies of wildlife management; wildlife values; and strategies for managing and conserving wildlife. This course includes required and optional field outings, most of which will be scheduled on weekends.
